What are good props to bring for Senior Portraits?

June 282010

I am going to bring my guitar because I have been playing for a good while and it is a big part of me, but I don’t know what else to bring. I like to paint and I am a performer but paintbrushes and microphones just sound cheesy. Any ideas?

I work at a portrait studio and we just did a session with a senior where she brought in a blank canvas and all of her paints and she just had fun with it. She wore her painting clothes and got paint on herself… it was really cool.

When does the University of Pittsburgh take senior portraits?

June 252010

I’ve heard there are separate sessions through the first part of the year, but it’s already getting close to July, and I haven’t received any information regarding it yet. Any suggestions?

better ask your school :/

What should I do for my senior portraits?

June 212010

The photography company told my school we should bring props? I dont really know what I’m supposed to do. Cause I dont play any sports, I mean im an artist, should I bring in my work?

What will go on on the day I take the pictures?

Unless you have something that you are totally into and know you will be in several years, I wouldn’t worry about the props. Focus on yourself solely. Find your best looks in the mirror, get some opinions on those from your parents as well. No father on earth wants their daughter’s senior pictures to look like an ad for a strip club. These pictures are taken for their benefit way more than yours. Be considerate of that. I always tell my senior clients that and they are surprising understanding of that.

Worry about what to wear, how much makeup is enough, how to do your hair so that its natural looking, but good and easily fixable if some gale force winds happen to blow you away. Have your faces and smiles ready so you know how you’re going to compose yourself for what shots.

On the day, don’t worry. Don’t be nervous. Don’t smile for any more than 5 seconds at a time. Serious does not mean angry. Relax. It will all be over soon, but the pictures will last a lifetime. Make damn sure they’re done right by you and the photographer. Good Luck. – BB

How do you think photographers get there customers for senior portraits?

June 182010

Do they go to schools and speak with board members and hang up flyers at the schools or what?

Mostly word of mouth. They often do advertise at schools.

Where can i make copies for my senior portraits in San Francisco?

June 162010

I am planning to buy 8 wallets from the company then find a place to make copies, since they are so freaking expensive. Thanks for anyone who can help me!

If you do find a place that does it, both you and the photo processing lab will be guilty of copyright infringement according to US Copyright Laws.

$250,000 in fines and jail time per photo.

Just buy them from the photographer. That’s how they make their money and its what is right!

Only one picture for senior portraits?

June 82010

I am not really interested in getting a package for my senior pics. Would i be able to just get one picture done for it. All i need one for is the yearbook, and maybe a few relatives.
& I was thinking of getting it done at Target. I heard that they do a pretty good job. Would I be able to just get one picture done there? And do you know how much it would probably cost?
Thanks so much!

I don’t know much about Target for getting your pictures done, but I do know that at Sears Portrait Studio you can choose which poses you want to buy. They usually take six different poses and with the package coupon you choose which pose to buy. Right now there package deal is 35 pictures for $9.99. There is also a $14.99 sitting fee that will apply. You can go to their website and print out coupons.
