How do you make a wedding budget?

July 142010

Posted in wedding | 8 Comments »

I need to keep costs down for my wedding, but I don’t know how to go about it. I originally was going to sell tickets for my wedding, but after the reaction I got here, I think that it would probably tick off most of my guests, so that’s out.

I have no experience with weddings, event planning, or budgets. How do I make a wedding budget, and stick to it while still having an elegant wedding?

you are the one that decides on how much to spend on everything…i mean you and your fiance.
and you might want to make a list of your necessities and your wants
There is a website that may assist you and it’s free, www.weddingwire.com
Hope you can figure everything out without going over your budget
and congratulations :)

How can I make my wedding night extra special for my hubby?

July 112010

Posted in wedding | 12 Comments »

My wedding is about 6 months away and I’ve been trying to come up with ways to make the wedding night sex even more amazing than our usual sex. We have great chemistry in the bedroom, but does anybody have any ideas on how I can make our wedding night extra special and something he’ll never forget? I was thinking some naughty music would be perfect to get him especially turned on but I want to have so much more than that. Please share your ideas!

look online to see some interesting ideas :)

What are some creative diy wedding favors or budget friendly favors?

July 82010

Posted in wedding | 7 Comments »

My wedding is coming up in a few months and I am searching for some creative favors for a January 1st wedding. I already have ordered some personalized matches but am having trouble with what else to get. Everything seems to be really expensive even in bulk. Does anybody know any other ideas that are not too expensive? Also, what are some unique diy wedding favors? I am thinking about making some soap, but not really sure.

If you decided you wanted soap favors (but perhaps didn’t want to make it) this site has fortune cookie shaped soap in just about every flavor you can imagine. This way you can personalize them to match your color theme. They can put the bride and grooms name on the inside "fortune" or the wedding date… the price however depends on the order. They are very unique and depending on the total cost could be a great idea. Here’s the link:

This site has many different do-it-yourself favors that others have used… there are some really creative and cute ideas and many pictures so you can look at a glance and see if there is anything you are at all interested in. Here’s the link:

One particular idea for homemade and very individualized favors would be to find small (4×5in) photo frames in bulk to put the bride and grooms engagement photo in. I attended a wedding where the bride and groom wrote their wedding date at the bottom of the frame (the frame was made from a white plastic and Styrofoam-like substance so the writing would appear and to make the frames less expensive). They also had a dainty bow at the right corner in the wedding colors.

Hope this helped!

“LOVE OF MY LIFE (THE WEDDING SONG)”

words by Darla Day
music by Mark Phillips
duet sung by Darla & Chad Day

I love you, the love of my life
I need you, our love is right
I’ve found the one that my soul loves
No other love means so much

I prayed to my God for a heart to keep
He gave me the one, He knew my needs
Over and over this love is sweet
I recognize the joy that makes our love complete
God gave you to me

You’re the one I prayed for long ago
Fearless trust I never thought I’d know
I’ve found the answer to my dreams
My eyes were opened to love’s mystery

I prayed to my God for a heart to keep
He gave me the one, He knew my needs
Over and over this love is sweet
I recognize the joy that makes our love complete
God gave you to me

The love of my life…

I love you, the love of my life
I need you, our love is right
I’ve found the one that my soul loves
No other heart gives so much
God gave you to me

You’re the one I love
You are the love of my life

What is the usual tradition around Indian wedding receptions in India?

July 62010

Posted in wedding | 1 Comment »

My understanding is that it is a party arranged by the groom’s family, in the groom’s city, to celebrate the wedding and to introduce the bride to their family and friends. It is usually held 2 or 3 days after the wedding.

Few other people say its just another function which happens the same day of the wedding in the same venue where people can give gifts, etc , which in my thinking, is part of the wedding function itself, not a reception.

I know there are no strict rules but what is the usual procedure, specially in Gujarati weddings?

First song is Jack Johnson’s “Better Together”.

Norm and Renee’s Wedding First Dance: This is how we kicked off the reception. No one really knew what we were about to do after a couple of minutes into the Jack Johnson song. We thought is was something original and we choreographed it ourselves.

Where should we go for our second wedding and our first honeymoon?

July 32010

Posted in wedding | 1 Comment »

Me and my husband are planning our second wedding and our first honeymoon. It will happen summer of 2011 after our actual wedding 10th wedding anniversary. I really want this to be a rocking time for me and my husband. Hubby doesn’t want a beach wedding, go on a cruise, or leave the continental united states. We’re open to suggestions or locations. Please no rude answers, thank you.

I am planning a wedding for Nov. 20th 2010 so I know a little what you are going through, except this is my first.

From my experience though I remember my aunt and uncles first wedding almost 10 years ago and on their 5 year anni. they got re-married and went on their first honeymoon.
They had their second wedding in a big open field that had nothing around for what seemed like miles. They had a couple huge tents set up and an area set up for the ceremony. They catered in food from one of their favorite resturants and hired a DJ. They had their family and friend and were more relaxed because, hey they had already done it one. They also had a small wedding cake and then a huge dessert bar when frankly was better because there was something for everyone.
They were able to have the music up as loud as they wanted and couple keep it going forever. She also changed into a shorter white "party" dress after the ceremony which was a more sexy dress verses her first traditional dress. She said that being able to be relaxedd and have things really open and fun was a million times better than her first wedding.
Hope this helps.

P.S. They went to tennessee for their honeymoon and rented a cabin for a week, they visited a couple dinner shows, went shopping, went on a few hikes and things like that.

Ever played violin for a wedding ceremony?

June 302010

Posted in wedding | 5 Comments »

Hi! I’ve been asked to play violin for a wedding ceremony (I live in Pa) though I play very well I have never done a wedding. I’m wondering how much I should charge? Also how do I know how to get the timing of the music down so it ends at the right moment after they come down the isle when there’s no way to know until the rehearsal itself. I’d appreciate any advice from someone who’s performed for wedding on how to go about things. Thanks so much!

I have played with 3 other people for 2 weddings. (It was a quartet they wanted.)

Since the parents of the bride were teachers at the school, we agreed that each of us get $50 ($200 total) for just playing the wedding song and extra (depending on how long they wanted us to play at the reception).
