PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!!!!!!!?

March 292010

So…im very close to finish my high school experience and im thinking about going to college. One of my options is to study photography. Im very passionate with photography, and im currently involved in photography clubs which are giving me a little bit of what i can experience in the future. How can i start making connections?
I will like to hear some advice from Professional photographers!

Thanks

Too bad you did not intern for a local pro while you were in high school

Okay, the next best thing to do is do some research. Find out which photo school best fits your goals as a photographer. In any case, you will need to learn how to use any camera without thinking.

While in school, join ASMP and/or NPPA as a student member and start networking with working pros.

Here are the top three schools

http://www.artcenter.edu

http://www.brooks.edu

http://www.rit.edu

Start looking at these three schools and then go from there

What kind of connections? Colleges or photographers?

Colleges: go to their web sites to check out their fine arts programs. Pick a few. Apply

Photographers: find a pro in your home town and ask to intern or become a non-paid assistant.

Set yourself up a myspace or something and offer free photography in whatever photography field you really like. Then start looking up people on myspace that are in that field. E.g if you like band photography, search local bands.

This increases your skills as well as getting your name out there!
